It is with heavy hearts that the family of David Lawrence Horton, of Saint John and McAdam, announces his passing on Saturday October 6, 2018 at the SJRH after a courageous 2 ½ year battle with cancer. Born May 5, 1954 in Saint John, he was the son of the late Robert (Bob) Horton and Shirley (Armstrong) Horton. David was employed with CN Rail for 34 years retiring in 2013. He was an avid outdoorsman who loved hunting and fishing and he was a diehard fan of the New York Yankees and the Duke Blue Devils.
He is survived by his sisters Susan (Paul) Shonaman of Saint John, Sandra (Norman) McIntyre of McAdam and Kelly (Jay) McCluskey of Baxter’s Corner; nieces Trisha (Kyle) Guptill and Michelle McIntyre (Corey Langille); 5 great nieces and nephews and special friend Susan Kasper.
The family would like to express their thanks and gratitude to Dr. Gray and the nurses and staff of Oncology as well as the nurses and staff of the Palliative Care Unit (SJRH).
Arrangements are under the direction of Fundy Funeral Home, 230 Westmorland Road (646-2424). In keeping with David’s wishes there will be no visitation or funeral service. For those who wish, donations in his memory may be made to the Canadian Cancer Society or the charity of one’s choice.
