Cubit “Leroy” Belding of Saint John passed away at the Saint John Regional Hospital on Thursday August 3, 2017. Born in Minto, NB on December 19, 1932. Leroy was a Veteran of the Vietnam and Korean Wars. He served with the 49th Edmonton Regiment and fought proudly for his country. When he returned home he held many positions and worked in a coal mine and later for Turnbull Nursing Home in the maintenance department; retiring in the mid 90’s. A member of the Adanac Club, Buffalo Club and the Royal Canadian Legion. Leroy was an avid Blue Jays & Toronto Maple Leafs Fan; he enjoyed reading, playing cards, old music and movies. Leroy is survived by his loving spouse Donna Marie (Vienneau) Challoner; daughter Mabel Challoner (Cecil); son Ray Challoner; daughters Tracey Challoner (Donnie) all of Saint John and Paula Medford (John) of Quispamsis; several grandchildren and great-grandchildren; special feline companion Bella; good friend and neighbor Ed and all of his card buddies. Arrangements are under the direction of the Fundy Funeral Home, 230 Westmorland Road (646-2424). Memorial service will be held from the Fundy Funeral Home Chapel on Tuesday August 8 at 2:00 p.m. Private burial to take place in Minto, NB at a later date.
