Clarence Joseph Bastarache

Surrounded by his loving family at Saint John Regional Hospital, Clarence Joseph Bastarache, husband of the late Jeannette (Sivret) Bastarache, passed away peacefully on November 5, 2017.   Born March 5, 1933, in Saint John, he was the son of the late Anthony and Catherine (Hachey) Bastarache.   

Clarence was employed in the grocery and wholesale business in various management roles until his retirement from Atlantic Wholesalers in 1995.

Clarence is survived by his sons David of Surrey, BC, Wayne (Jill), Bryant (Winnie), Kevin (Carol), and Darrell (Tina), his daughters Debbie (David Rowe), Linda (Gerry McPhee), Sharon (Sean Gass), and Cindy Bastarache, all of Saint John,  his brothers Eddie (Evelyn) of Kingston, ON, Donnie and Ronnie (Elizabeth), his sisters Stella (Henry Walker), Ida Blizzard, of Saint John,  his grandchildren, Mike, Christina, Laura, Gary, Tony, Shauna, Clarence, George, Jennifer, Rhianna, Anthony, Wayne, Carrie, Bonnie, Lena, Alison, Amelia, Ethan, Darrell Jr, Makayla, Brandon, Lucas and Lilly, several great-grandchildren, nieces and nephews and other members of his extended family.

Besides his wife and parents he was predeceased by his brother Frank (Bay) and his sister Annette Smith and an infant sister.  He was a loving and caring father and grandfather who will be deeply missed.

The family welcomes relatives and friends to join them at Fundy Funeral Home, 230 Westmorland Road (646-2424), on Monday from 6-8 pm and Tuesday from 2-4 and 6-8 pm.  The Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Wednesday, November 8, 2017 at 12:10pm from the Cathedral of the Immaculate Conception.  Interment will take place at St. Joseph’s Cemetery.  Remembrances made to the Canadian Cancer Society would be appreciated.
