With heavy hearts, the family of Bertha Scott announces her passing, which occurred at Parkland (Shannex) Tucker Hall on Monday, October 14, 2019. Bertha was born in Lumsden North, Newfoundland on November 9th, 1936; a daughter of the late Solomon and Theresa (Butt) Smith, and the loving wife of Thomas Scott. Bertha was an Instructor with the Central Newfoundland Community College for 13 years, was a Secretary with the RCAF Station Gander, a founding member of the Business and Professional Women of Gander, as well as a member of the Gander Curling Club and Thistle St. Andrews Curling Club.
Along with her husband Thomas, Bertha is survived by her children; Jeffrey, Michele Cross (Terry), as well as grandchildren Steven (Samantha Muise), Courtney (Jordan Ross), Keesha, Juliet, and Sydney Rose. Along with her parents, Bertha was pre-deceased by her sisters Grace Smith, Melinda Gibbons, Marjorie Hatcher, Zeta Clarke, and Mina Blackmore. Resting at Fundy Funeral Home, 230 Westmorland Road, Saint John (646-2424) with visitation on Wednesday, October 16th from 6-8 p.m only. The memorial service will be held on Friday, October 18th at 2:30pm, from the Fundy Funeral Home Chapel. For those who wish, remembrances to the Alzheimer’s Society would be appreciated by the family.
