Aurela Doucet

It is with profound sadness but with appreciation for a long life, well lived that we announce the peaceful passing of our family matriarch, surrounded by her loving family in the Palliative Care Unit of the SJ Regional Hospital on November 8, 2019.

Aurela was born in Petite Rocher, N.B on January 11, 1928 to the late Hector and Adelia Roy.

She is survived by her loving husband Euclide Doucet and resided in Saint John N.B since their marriage over 72 years ago.

Mom will be missed by her daughters; Gloria (Al) Duncan of Moncton, Patricia (Adrian) Tobin of Saint John and sons; Paul (Heather) of Halifax NS, and Louis (Kim) of Saint John, as well as her brother Raymond (Anne Marie) Roy of Midland. In addition to her parents Aurela was predeceased by her Brother Roger.

Nanny loved her family more than anything and adored her grandchildren; Paul Duncan, Nicole Foran, Marc Doucet, Jeffrey Doucet, Christopher Tobin, Corey Doucet, Matthew Doucet & Nicholas Doucet. Her great grandchildren Terra Duncan, Kylie Duncan, Aidan Foran, Brodie Foran, Pyper Doucet, Layla Tobin, Aryia Doucet, Addison Doucet, Evan Tobin, Daphne Doucet, Nora Doucet and Sadie Doucet.

Aurela also leaves behind many nieces, nephews and a large extended family of brother and sister in-laws.

Mom’s hands were magical and she could do anything she put her mind to especially when it came to decorating, sewing, cooking and gardening. She was very artistic and had an extraordinary flair for fashion and style that she loved to share with family and friends, especially in her earlier years. She will be sorely missed by her fur baby Suzi who gave her company keeping an eye on the neighborhood from her favorite rocking chair.

Our family would like to say a special thanks to Dr. Simona Parascan for the excellent care she provided to our Mom over the past ten years. Also to the nursing staff in 3C South and the Palliative Care Unit for the compassionate comfort and care they provided to Mom.

Visitation will be held on Thursday, November 14, 2019, 2 pm to 4 pm and 6 pm to 8 pm at Fundy Funeral Home, 230 Westmorland Road, (646-2424). A funeral mass with be held on Friday November 15, 2019 at St Ann Catholic Church at 11 am. Interment will take place at St Joseph Cemetery. Reception to follow.

Mom cherished all living things but her garden and plants were her passion in life, so potted plants are welcomed.

For those who wish, memorials may be made to Cancer Society or charity of donor’s choice.
