Allan George Walling Obituary

At the Saint John Regional Hospital, on December 10, 2019, surrounded by his wife & family, Allan passed away. Born in Bloomfield in 1937, he was the son of the late William (Bill) and Jean (Gourlay) Walling. Allan was a devoted son, husband, father, brother, uncle, and friend. A talented mechanic, he could fix anything. Allan could create from scrap metal any parts or tools he needed for the challenging projects, that he envisioned. An example of his talent, he created & built his disabled neighbour’s elevator in his home and devices so he could drive his own car, giving this disabled individual an independent life. He loved to read about science & nature. He worked many jobs over his lifetime but especially enjoyed working as a steel fitter at the Saint John Dry Dock. Later in life, he worked with his wife, Anne, in the Cedar Shingle Mill and as a mechanic fixing small engines and mysteries that no one else could fix. In the summer months, he joyed boating with family & friends on the St. John River in the Cabin Cruiser, which he built himself as well as motorcycling. Allan was a member of Christ Church, Bloomfield, where he and his wife were married 58 years ago. Survived by his loving and devoted wife, Anne (Mott) Walling of Bloomfield; son James Walling (Paula Gallant) of Moncton, daughters Dawn Walling (Lorne Webster) of Bloomfield and Elizabeth Hadzic of Frederick, Maryland; precious grandchildren: Jelena, Nicholas, Aurora, Rachel, Ryley, Matthew and Jackson; great-granddaughter Sophia; brother & sister in-law, James & Lisa Mott of Hampton; nieces, nephews and friends. Along with his parents, Allan was predeceased by his sister & her husband, Elizabeth & Joseph Sharp.
