Alex Moore

It is with great sadness that the family announces the passing of John Alexander Moore which occurred at the Saint John Regional Hospital on Saturday, June 22nd, 2019.  Born 1936, in Saint John, he was the son of the late Samuel James and Emma Gertrude (Benjamin) Moore.  Alex worked as a Lobster Fisherman until age 74; working as a Longshoreman with the ILA between fishing seasons for over 30 years. He was an outdoorsman who loved to hunt and fish.

Alex is survived by his loving and devoted wife Evelyn (Black) of 54 years; daughter Darla Moore of Saint John; sons Scott Moore (Darlene) of Saint John, Brent Moore (Tammy) of Fairfield; brother Russell Moore (Louise) of Tynemouth Creek; grandchildren Jennifer, Robyn, Jeremy, Kyle, Lindsay, Bradley and Vanessa; 4 great grandchildren; as well as several nieces and nephews.  Besides his parents, Alex was predeceased by his daughter-in-law Dr. Sandee Hicks-Moore, sisters Roberta, Joan and Ferne and brother Mitchell.

Arrangements are under the direction of Fundy Funeral Home, 230 Westmorland Road (646-2424).  A Funeral Service will take place from the Fundy Funeral Home chapel on Wednesday, June 26th at 2 p.m. with visitation for family and close friends taking place 1 hour prior to service.  Interment will follow at Brown’s Cemetery in Bains Corner.  Donations in memory of Alex may be made to The Heart & Stroke Foundation of New Brunswick or to the charity of the donor’s choice.
