Alan Whittaker

It is with great sadness the family announces the passing of Edward Alan Whittaker which occurred at St. John St. Stephen Nursing Home on Thursday, May 4th, 2017.  Born 1926, in Saint John, he was the son of the late L. Edward and Ethel L. (Allan) Whittaker. Alan was owner and operator of L.E. Whittaker and worked as a Fire Extinguisher and Outboard Marine Sales and Service Advisor.  He was a member of St. Mary St. Bartholomew’s Church and former member of the church choir.  Alan was also a former member of the Thistle Curling Club, Knights of Pythius and National Campers and RVer’s.     

Alan is survived by his loving and devoted wife Margaret “Ruth” (White) of 51 years; as well as many friends.  He was the last surviving member of his immediate family.

Thank you to the nurses and staff of St. John St. Stephen Nursing Home for the tender loving care given to Alan and myself throughout the past two years. 

Arrangements are under the direction of Fundy Funeral Home, 230 Westmorland Road (646-2424). Visitation will be held on Monday, May 8th from 10 till 11 a.m. followed by a Funeral Service in the Fundy Funeral Home chapel at 11 a.m.  Interment will follow at Fernhill Cemetery.  Donations in Alan’s memory may be made to St. Mary & St. Bartholomew’s Church or to the charity of the donor’s choice.
