Alan James Good

It is with broken hearts we announce the passing of Alan James Good, loving and devoted husband to Sheila MacGowan, which occurred on Wednesday, December 18, 2019 at the Saint John Regional Hospital, with Sheila by his side.

Born in Bathurst, NB on August 11, 1961 he is the son of Ralph Good of Bathurst, NB and the late Lois Ann Good. In addition to his mother he was predeceased by his canine companions Saphire, Archer, Samantha and Sophie; feline companions Abner and Sally. 

In addition to his loving and devoted wife Sheila of 18 years, and his father Ralph, he is survived by his brother Barry Good (Carol) of Pickering, ON; sister Wendy Smith (Craig) of Ottawa, ON; his canine companions Angelo, Daisy and Emmett; feline companions Susie, Shelby and Bread Puss; father and mother-in-law Donald and Merle MacGowan; sister-in-law Heather Daniels (Don); brothers-in-law Bruce MacGowan (Kim), Brian MacGowan (Sandy) and Glenn MacGowan (Sheila); several nieces and nephews.  

Alan grew up in Bathurst, NB and attended local schools, he attended Dalhousie and Carleton Universities. He met the love of his life Sheila in 1995 and they were married in their backyard in Rothesay on June 30, 2001.

Alan worked for the Batesville Casket Company, serving the Atlantic Provinces, where he met and made many friends in the funeral profession, where he was deeply respected. He and Sheila loved to travel and had just returned on Monday from a cruise through the Holy Land. Alan enjoyed spending quality time at home with Sheila and their fur babies. Alan and Sheila where gracious hosts for their many friends. In the last couple of years Alan created a website https://streetscapecanada.com/ where he spent countless hours dedicated to beautifying the streets of Canada.

An evening of remembrance will be held on Friday, January 3, 2020 at the Shadow Lawn Inn, 3180 Rothesay Road, Rothesay, NB from 7 to 9 p.m. 

His celebration of life will be held at Fundy Funeral Home Chapel, 230 Westmorland Road, Saint John (646-2424) on Saturday, January 4, 2020 at 11 a.m., with visitation being held from 9:45 a.m. to 10:45 a.m.

In lieu of flowers, remembrances in memory of Alan may be made to the charity of the donor’s choice.
