James "Gale" Rutherford

It is with great sadness that we announce the sudden passing of James Gale Rutherford, who passed away peacefully at home on March 25, 2024.  He was born in Saint John, NB, on April 12, 1943, to the late Vincent and Rhoda (Corscadden) Rutherford and was the loving husband of 41  years to his wife, Linda (Fraser) Campbell. 

Gale worked in many varied careers, from selling insurance to working as a chef before retiring from the Irving Pulp and Paper on the West Side after almost 30 years.  He volunteered as a firefighter in Grand Bay – Westfield for over 20 years.  Gale was an entertaining and fun-loving man who loved to tease.  He was a very family-oriented man who loved to spend time with his children and grandchildren, trailering or camping or just going for long drives.  He was a wonderful man who will be deeply missed by all who knew and loved him. 

Along with his loving wife, Linda, he is survived by his children; Paul (Beth), Joe, Junior, Loren (Shannon) and Jodi (Daryl); 11 grandchildren (Bailey, Sam, Jade, Jayla, Jenna, Owen, Tristen, Isabel, Brayden, Racheal and Tori); along with 5 great grandchildren (Max, Hux, Sadie, Kailee and Hunter), as well as his niece, Debbie.  In addition to his parents, he was predeceased by his brother, Glen and grandson, Justin.   

Arrangements are entrusted to Fundy Funeral Home, 230 Westmorland Road (506-646-2424) where visitation will be held on Thursday from 2-4 & 6:30-8:30pm.  A funeral service will take place on Saturday, March 30, 2024, at 2pm from the Fundy Funeral Home Chapel.  For those who wish, memorial donations to the charity of the donor’s choice would be appreciated by his family.  Due to health issues associated with strong perfume smells, please respect a no scent policy when attending the visitation and funeral service.
