It is with great sadness the family announces the passing of Frederick Stephen Joyce which occurred on Saturday, April 20th, 2024, at the Saint John Regional Hospital. Born on September 24th, 1944, in Saint John, he is the son of the late Stephen and Mabel (O’Brien) Joyce. Frederick worked for the Box Mill, Irving Oil, Pool Hall Manager and he finished his career as a Walking Boss at the Port of Saint John. He enjoyed hunting and fishing and had great respect for the environment and wildlife. He loved going to the horse races with his friend Murray Keleher as well as trips to the Moncton Casino with his wife Carol. Frederick and his son Stephen had a passion for Motocross Racing and he was well respected in the motocross community. Frederick loved all animals and animals loved him. His daughter Christine would call him the animal whisperer. He even raised puppies with his brother Thomas. He will be greatly missed by all who knew him.
Frederick is survived by his loving and devoted wife Carol Ann (Gray) of 57 years; son Stephen Joyce (Amanda) of Saint John; daughter Christine Gavin (Philip) of Saint John; sisters Doreen Joyce and Mary Beckingham both of Saint John; grandchildren Dilon, Joshua, Karrie, Nicholas, Andrea and Arianna; great grandchildren Marc, Jillian, Jackson and Evan; as well as several nieces, nephews and friends. Along with his parents, Frederick was predeceased by his brother Thomas (Marylou) and great grandson James Taylor.

Arrangements are under the direction of Fundy Funeral Home, 230 Westmorland Road (506-646-2424) with visitation being held on Friday, May 3rd from 2 to 6 p.m. Interment will take place at Holy Cross Cemetery on Saturday, May 4th at 10 a.m. Donations in memory of Frederick may be made to the Community Autism Center or to the SPCA-Animal Rescue.
