It is with broken hearts that the family of David Murray, beloved husband of Alice Murray, announces his unexpected passing on March 22, 2024, at the Saint John Regional Hospital. Born in Saint John, NB, on September 27, 1949, he was the son of the late Vincent and Dorothy (Gallop) Murray.
In a world that often takes itself too seriously, David brought light and laughter everywhere he went. Born with a hammer in one hand and a hockey stick in the other, Dave dedicated 51 years of his life to the construction industry. With his passion for carpentry, his craftsmanship touched countless structures, working for three esteemed companies throughout his career. But if you ask anyone who truly knew Dave, they'd say his real legacy was built not of bricks and mortar, but of friendship, generosity, and his love for his community. If you needed help, he was there, no questions asked. He was that guy who’d drop everything to lend a hand, share a laugh, or offer a shoulder to lean on. His door was always open, and so was his heart.
When he wasn’t hard at work, though, he lived and breathed hockey. A die-hard fan of the Seadogs - if there was a game, you bet David was there, season tickets in hand, probably yelling the loudest and having the time of his life. His dedication to the game went beyond just watching it; he poured his love for hockey into coaching and playing with the Jolly Rogers, an old-timer's hockey team. For over 40 years, he was the captain of good times, leading his team not just on the ice but in every laugh-filled adventure off of it.
Most of all, David was a family man, and he especially adored his grandchildren beyond words. He will be missed so much by his family, friends, teammates, and all those who had the great fortune of knowing him.
Besides his wife of 50 years, Alice, David is survived by his sons: Jason Murray (Sue), Chris Murray, Andrew Murray (Sara), and Kevin Murray (Julie); his grandchildren: Becca, Paige, Olivia, Kayleigh, and Abigail; his siblings: Marilyn Clark (Ernie), Brian Murray (Darlene), Wendy Duguay (Roland), Maureen Collrin (Ken), and Kevin Murray (Imelda); as well as several brothers and sisters-in-law, and nieces and nephews.
