Bernardus "Ben" Carolinus Van Wieren

Bernardus “Ben” Carolinus Van Wieren, beloved husband of Evelyn, passed away peacefully on April 12th, 2024. Born on March 28, 1953, in the Netherlands to Hendrik and Anje (Wildvank) van Wieren.

Ben was a master of both canvas and garden, always expressing his artistic abilities in all that he did. A gifted Architectural Designer, Ben spent many years shaping spaces and lives at an architectural company in Calgary called Strategic. His love of woodworking filled the family home as he built many pieces of their furniture and always had several projects on the go. A devoted conversationalist and student of the Bible, Ben’s strong faith and warmth touched many. Ben’s open mind and curiosity led him to spend many nights contemplating sermons, reading scripture, and enjoying music. Ben’s legacy is one of joy, creativity, and a deep, abiding love for his family and friends. We imagine him now, tending heavenly gardens and regaling angels with his tales, paintbrush or trowel always in hand.

He was the proud father of Heather (Darren), Jessica (Ben), Jenna (Allan), April (Tim), and chosen family Kris and Melissa, and was a grandfather to nine grandchildren. Ben is also survived by his sisters, Jeannette (Dirk), and Rose. He was predeceased by his parents and his brother-in-law Tom. Ben also leaves behind his beloved cat Buddy, the pet he never expected to love so dearly.

Arrangements are under the care and direction of Fundy Funeral Home, 230 Westmorland Rd., Saint John, NB (506-646-2424). The Celebration of life ceremony will be at Mission Point Fellowship Hall on April 18th at 2pm.
