Winifred Jeannette Johnson

It is with sadness but gratitude for a life well lived, that the family announces the passing of Winifred Jeannette Johnson at the Saint John Regional Hospital on Thursday June 29, 2017. Born July 3, 1920 in Cambridge, Mass, USA, she was the daughter of the late William and Sadie (Greene) Willis. She was the last surviving member of her family. Prior to having children Winie, was employed with the Department of Navy in the US and later worked for York Warehousing in the clerical department. She was a Member of the Simonds Seniors and the Seaside Lawn Bowling League. Winie is survived by her daughter Susan (Terry) MacKenzie and her son Gary (Linda) Johnson; grandchildren Ian (Stacy) Johnson, Jason (Angela) Johnson, Ryan (Miranda) MacKenzie, Matthew (Nichol) MacKenzie and Katelyn MacKenzie; great-grandchildren Liam, Dillan and Rissa. In addition to her parents she was predeceased by her husband Gordon of 62 years, sisters Margaret (Paul) Welch, Edna O’Connell,  Marie Willis, Helen (Fred) Hemsworth and a brother William Willis Jr.  

Arrangements are under the direction of Fundy Funeral Home, 230 Westmorland Road (646-2424) A Memorial Service will be held at Fundy Funeral Home Chapel on Tuesday July 4, 2017 at 11 a.m. The family will receive visitors one hour prior to service. Interment will be held in Fernhill Cemetery. The family would appreciate donations to the charity of one’s choice.
