William "Billy" Drillen

It is with great sadness the family announces the passing of William Charles Drillen which occurred at the Saint John Regional Hospital on Tuesday, April 4th, 2017.  Born 1939, in Saint John, he was the son of the late William and Mary (Adams) Drillen.  Billy graduated from Saint John Vocational School.  In his earlier years, Billy worked as a Radio Operator with the Canadian Coast Guard on their icebreakers.  He was a Blacksmith, Welder and Shop Supervisor with the Coast Guard for many years before retiring in 1993. Billy loved cats and dogs.  He was also an Amateur Radio Enthusiast. 

Billy is survived by his cousins Paul Green of Saint John, Donna Spackman of Alberta and Maureen Penn of Alberta.  Besides his parents, Billy was predeceased by his cousin Rosemary Wright (Kevin).

Arrangements are under the direction of Fundy Funeral Home, 230 Westmorland Road (646-2424) with visitation being held on Thursday, April 6th from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m.  A Funeral Service will take place from the Fundy Funeral Home chapel on Friday, April 7th at 2 p.m. followed by an interment at St. Joseph’s Cemetery.  Donations in Billy’s memory may be made to the SPCA-Animal Rescue or to the charity of the donor’s choice.
