Walter "Mike" Roscoe Eastwood

After a long active life we announce the death of Walter (Mike) Eastwood of Mispec, which occurred at the St. John and St. Stephen Nursing Home on November 20th, 2017. The husband of the late Gladys (Walker) Eastwood, Mike was born in Whites Cove, Queens County on January 4th, 1924; a son of the late James and Mary (Earle) Eastwood, he moved to Mispec with his family in 1931.

Mike is survived by his son Bob and wife Diane of Belleisle Creek, granddaughter Rebecca “Becky” McCabe and her husband Ian, their children James, Grace and Will, all of Truro; grandson Rob of Toronto, special friend Beryl Rutherford, and sisters-in-law Muriel Walker and Louise Eastwood, as well as many nephews and nieces. Mike was pre-deceased by his wife Gladys in 1958, his parents, five brothers; George (Ann), Arthur (Juana), Karl (Marion), Harold (Elsie) and Ronald, brothers-in-law Roy Walker (Joan) and Fred Walker, and our very special aunt Lillian Wallace. Mike was a busy guy; he worked on the farm, the winter port, and 34 years in the Dry Dock pipe shop. In his spare time, he worked with Bobby on the farm in Belleisle, hunted the backwoods of New Brunswick with Art and Bobby, looked after his beloved white charolais cows and grew a garden big enough to feed all of Mispec in his 90th year. In later years he looked forward to the Sunday trips to the farm in Belleisle, where the great-grandkids provided lots of lively entertainment.

Resting at Fundy Funeral Home, 230 Westmorland Road, Saint John (646-2424) with visitation Thursday from 2-4 and 6-8 p.m. The funeral service will be held on Friday, November 24th at 11:00 a.m, from the Fundy Funeral Home Chapel, with a reception to follow at the funeral home. Interment will take place in the Central Hampstead Baptist Cemetery at a later date. For those who wish, remembrances to a charity of the donor’s choice would be appreciated by the family.
