W. Lloyd D. Pierce

Lloyd Pierce of Kiersteadville, passed away at the Saint John Regional Hospital on June 11, 2017. Born in Saint John on April 2, 1932 he was the son of the late Albert and Hazel (Hunter) Pierce.

Lloyd was a Firefighter and worked for the City of Saint John for over 34 years retiring in 1987 as a District Fire Chief. He was owner and operator of “Lloyd’s Heating Service” and was a lifelong member of the Knights of Pythias. He enjoyed wintering in Florida, shuffle board, boating and was an avid cards and pool player. Devoted husband, father, grandfather, friend and firefighter. He was a kind and wise man, who adored kids and dogs.

Lloyd is survived by his loving and devoted wife Nancy (Blair) Pierce of Kiersteadville, daughter Kelly Barrieau (Gilles), sons Daryl Pierce (Claire), Billy (Jennifer) and Joe Armstrong (Debra) all of Saint John; 10 grandchildren, several great–grandchildren; nieces, nephews and many friends.

Along with his parents, Lloyd was predeceased by his sister Margaret Thorne; nephew Buddy Thorne and two baby boys Gordon and Kent A. Pierce.

Arrangements are under the direction of the Fundy Funeral Home, 230 Westmorland Road (646–2424), with visitation on Wednesday, June 14th from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. A Celebration of Lloyd’s Life will be held from the Fundy Funeral Home Chapel on Thursday, June 15th, 2017 at 1:00 p.m.  Donations in Lloyd’s memory can be made to the charity of the donor’s choice.
