With heavy hearts the family of Vera Patricia (Doyle) Arseneau announce her peaceful passing at her home surrounded by her loving family on Tuesday, February 14, 2017. Vera was born on November 18, 1932 in Saint John, NB to the late John and Marguerite (Lynch) Doyle.
Vera spent her working career with the Telegraph Journal Newspaper, working there for over 30 years before retiring in 1997 to then spend her time doing what she loved best; being with her family. Growing up, Vera was the neighbourhood mom, and everyone loved coming to her house because she just had the ability to make everyone feel good. She was a very faithful person, and went to Mass regularly, and even watched it every day at home after retirement. She liked to read and play cards, but above all she loved spending time with her daughter and her grandchildren and great grandchildren. She was a devoted Nana and “Old Nana” and while she wasn’t the type to knit you slippers, she made you laugh and made you happy. She was very involved and very devoted to her family and she will be forever missed.
She is survived by her daughter Carolyn (Jeffery) Danells, of Willow Grove, NB, four grandchildren; Lisa (Jeff) Murray, Carlene Chown, Angela Chown and Zachary Danells, 2 great grandchildren; Isabelle and Hadley Murray, sisters Alice Jackson of Cornwall, ON and Frances (Larry) Kincade of Saint John, NB, along with several nieces, nephews and cousins.
Along with her parents, Vera was predeceased by her brothers John and Ronnie Doyle, and sisters Rita Joyce, Josephine Forgey and at a young age, Edith Doyle.
Arrangements are under the professional care and direction of Fundy Funeral Home, 230 Westmorland Rd., Saint John, NB (646-2424). In keeping with Vera’s wishes, cremation will take place, and visitation will be held on Friday, February 17, 2017 from 2-4 and 6-8 pm. A Celebration of Her Life will take place on Saturday, February 18 at 11am from St. Joseph’s Catholic Church (4347 Loch Lomond Road). A private family interment will be held at a later date.
