Shirley (Nice) Hudson

Shirley Hudson passed away peacefully at Carleton Kirk Nursing Home on Tuesday, September 26, 2017. Born in Montreal, PQ on October 19, 1930 to the late William and Ruby (Butland) Nice. Shirley worked for Canadian Pacific Railway for over 34 years, retiring in 1990. She was a member of the CPR Union, Carleton Kirk Seniors, New Brunswick Seniors Federation and was one of the founding members of the Legion Branch # 69 Seniors Club. Shirley was a devoted wife, mother and grammie; in earlier days she loved to dance, bowl and play darts. Both she and Gerry enjoyed traveling. Shirley is survived by her loving husband of 40 years, Gerry Hudson of Saint John; children Scott Green (Cathy) of Sussex, Janice Green of Calgary, AB, Robert Hudson of Montreal, PQ, Patricia Hudson (Brad Miller) of Juniper, NB and Janet Vaughan (Bob) of Rothesay; precious grandchildren Alex, Jill, Daniel, Olivia, Noah, Rowan, Meriet, Edgar and Hayden; several nieces, nephews and friends. Along with her parents, Shirley was predeceased by her sister Vivian Hillier.

Arrangements are under the direction of the Fundy Funeral Home, 230 Westmorland Road (646-2424). Visitation will be held at Carleton Kirk United Church, 1 Carleton Kirk Place, Saint John West, on Thursday, September 28th, 2017 from 12noon to 1:00 p.m. Funeral service to begin at 1:00 p.m. A private family burial will be held at Cedar Hill Ext Cemetery at a later date. In lieu of flowers donations in Shirley’s memory can be made to the Carleton Kirk Nursing Home.
