Shirley Dickie

It is with great sadness the family announce the death of Shirley Dickie of Saint John, wife of the late Arnold Dickie; who  passed away at the St. Joseph’s Hospital on Wednesday April 15th, 2015. Shirley was born in Saint John December of 1929. She was the daughter of the late William and Elva (Chapman) Best.   Shirley was a retired
Cosmetician and a past associate member of the Jervis Bay Legion #53 and a member of the Simonds Lioness for over 21 years. Shirley spent over 50 years at her Home away from Home at “Wally’s “ in Cambridge Narrows enjoying every summer with family and friends. She had zest for life and loved to travel. Her compassionate and giving ways will be greatly missed.  Shirley is survived by her daughter  Elva Rose Dickie of Saint John; three sons John of Garnett Settlement, David of Saint John and William (Win) of Calgary; one sister Margaret Whittaker (Robert)  of Quispamsis; 19 grandchildren and several great-grandchildren; nephews, nieces and loving niece Wendy White (Frank) of Saint John; special friends Paula Kemp and Joan MacNeil both of Saint John. Besides her parents and husband Arnold; Shirley was predeceased by son Glen Dickie, granddaughter Kimberly Dickie; 2 brothers Ernest and William Best; sister Cora and feline companion Snuggs.

Resting at the Fundy Funeral Home 230 Westmorland Road (646-2424) with visitation on Sunday April 19th from 2-4 and 6-8 p.m. A Royal Canadian Legion Tribute will begin at 6:00 p.m. Funeral service will be held from the Fundy Funeral Home Chapel on Monday April 20th, 2015 at 10:30 a.m. Interment to follow at Cedar Hill Ext. Donations in Shirley’s memory can be made to Animal Rescue League or to the charity of the donor’s choice.

The family would like thank Dr. Wayne Sheehan, Nurses and Staff of the 6th Floor Restorative Care at the St. Joseph’s Hospital , for the care given to Shirley and her family.
