It is with great sadness the family announces the passing of Sheryl Ann “Sherry” Gallagher which occurred unexpectedly at the Saint John Regional Hospital on Thursday, April 13th, 2017. Born 1960, in Saint John, she is the daughter of Catherine “Cathy” (Savard) Helyar and the late Paul F. Gallagher. Sherry worked at Key Industries for 14 years as a Trainor and Math Tutor. She worked in the canteen, was a bingo caller and she sang in the Cheer Choir. Sherry was very social and loved being around people. She especially enjoyed attending events and volunteering. Sherry was the first person to step up and help others, she had a big heart and her personality was larger than life. Sherry was also a member of the Kiwanis Aktion Club.
Sherry is survived by her loving mother Catherine “Cathy” (Savard) Helyar and step-father Alain Helyar of Saint John; husband James Haslett of Saint John; sisters Tina Byers (Chris) of Baxter’s Corner, Susan Gallagher (Elizabeth) of Saint John; step-sisters Kelly Gallagher and Shauna Gallagher (Heidi White) of Saint John; special aunt Theresa (Savard) Sew and uncle James Sew of Alberta; best friends Lois Poirier, Kevin Swain and Elizabeth Sabean of Saint John; nieces and nephews Megan and Alex Gallagher of Milton, NS, Cory and Jason Byers of Saint John and Christopher Gallagher of Saint John; as well as many aunts, uncles, cousins and friends. Besides her father, Sherry was predeceased by her son Randall Gallagher and brother Paul J. Gallagher.
Arrangements are under the direction of Fundy Funeral Home, 230 Westmorland Road (646-2424) with visitation being held on Tuesday, April 18th from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. A Memorial Service will take place from the Fundy Funeral Home chapel on Wednesday, April 19th at 10 a.m. followed by an interment at St. Joseph’s Cemetery. Donations in Sherry’s memory may be made to Key Industries.
