Sandrina Dirkje (VanTil) Fox

Sandrina (VanTil) Fox, wife of Robert Fox, passed away peacefully on Sunday, August 30, 2015 at the Saint John Regional Hospital. Born in Heteren, Holland, she was the daughter of the late Gerard and Dirkje (Fredriks) VanTil. In addition to her parents, she was predeceased by her infant son Murray Todd Fox; brothers Jan VanTil and Gerrit VanTil and son-in-law Peter Ward.

Sandrina emigrated from Holland in 1950 and has lived in Saint John for 50 years. She worked many years as a clerk at Montreal Trust, Bank of Montreal, Bank of Nova Scotia, and also worked at Thornes. She loved knitting, puzzles, kraftwork, and knitted for 25 years for Cottage Craft in St. Andrew’s. She faithfully attended Calvary Temple and did volunteer work for the Canadian Red Cross as a friendly visitor. She delivered newspapers for the last 15 years for the Telegraph Journal, and was one of their best carriers.

The family would like to thank Dr. Le and Dr. Dolan, and nurses and staff at 5A South and Palliative for their wonderful care to her.

Besides her husband Robert, she is survived by her son Andrew Fox (Kerri Wadden); daughter Valerie Ward; grandchildren Matthew Ward (Amelia), Stephen Ward, Sandrina Smith Fox, Sara Fox, Kaleigh Wadden and Emily Wadden; several nieces and nephews.

Resting at Fundy Funeral Home, 230 Westmorland Road, Saint John (646-2424) with visitations on Wednesday, September 2 from 1 to 3 and 6 to 8 p.m.

The funeral service will be held from Fundy Funeral Home Chapel on Thursday, September 3, 2015 at 10:30 a.m. Interment will follow in Fernhill Cemetery. Remembrances in memory of Sandrina may be made to Canadian Cancer Society or to the charity of the donor’s choice.
