Roy H. Morrell

At Bobby’s Hospice on September 1st, 2015, Roy Harold Morrell found peace at the age of 73.  Roy was born in Saint John June 25, 1942 to Roy and Leah (Ekstrom) Morrell.

First and foremost in his life, Roy had great love for his wife of 37 years, Elizabeth, his children, Michael (Christa) Morrell, Tara Morrell (Roger Goguen), Dana Morrell, Leah Wood (Wayne), Lisa Macdonald (Rodney), Lori Duff (Dana); brothers Larry Morrell (Bonnie) and Jack Morrell (Maggie); sister Paulette Collrin; grandchildren, Kayla, Aaron, Devon, Jacob, Ciara, Malachy, Liam, Amelia, Terry and Andrew; great grandson, Sebastian and several extended family members and friends.

 Entertaining and jovial to the very end, Roy will always be remembered by his family and many friends and acquaintances as being “good company”. His irreverent sense of humour will never be forgotten.  His twin passions in life, cooking and trout fishing sparked conversations at many family gatherings over the years.  Roy will be remembered for the many lives that he touched during his years of service at the Rocmaura Nursing Home, as well as his time as a personal home care worker for a number of years.  Roy was born to care for people and has touched many lives.

Along with his parents he was predeceased by his sister Evelyn Smith.

Roy’s family are thankful for the extra time they were given with him through his sheer strength and determination.  He was truly one of the strongest people that you would ever meet.

Roy’s family wishes to offer special thanks to the staff and volunteers at Bobby’s Hospice for all their love, care and compassion that was given to make Roy’s last days special and memorable.

At Roy’s request, there will be no visitation or formal service.  For those who wish, remembrances to Bobby’s Hospice or a charity of choice would be appreciated by the family.
