Welcome to the memorial page for

Roy Gardner Douglas Israel (Junior)

November 17, 1961 ~ January 17, 2018 (age 56) 56 Years Old

It is with great sadness that we announce the unexpected passing of Roy Gardner Douglas Israel at Trillium Hospital on January 17, 2018. Roy was born in Saint John, NB on November 17, 1961 to Margaret (Nelson) and the late Roy Israel and was the loving partner to Rhonda Shaw.

Roy worked in Appliance Repair for various companies over the years, most recently with Whirlpool.  He was hard working, but really enjoyed his play time.  He loved music and loved to play his guitar.  He was well known in the city for his tribute music to John Cougar Mellencamp, and anyone who has ever gone to the Grove Lounge would have been sure to hear him sing there.  He was fun and funny and liked to talk to anyone and everyone.  He was very kind-hearted and generous, and full of life.  He loved his vehicles, and fondly restored older vehicles to their original lustre.  He was a family man who ensured he came to visit as often as he could, and the friends he made, he made sure to keep up with and visit whenever he was in town.  Taken far too soon, he will be deeply missed by all who knew and loved him.

Along with his partner Rhonda, he is survived by his 3 sons; Doug (Meghan), Corey (Courtney) and Kyle (Kirby), grandchildren Kamden and Olivia, brother Gerald and half-brother Paul, sisters Lana (Brian) Hayward and Karen Lee (Parris) Kincade, half-sisters Linda and Rita, close friends Danny and Lloyd, as well as several nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.  Along with his father, he was predeceased by his half-sister Bonnie.

Arrangements are entrusted to Fundy Funeral Home, 230 Westmorland Road (646-2424) where visitation will be held on Wednesday from 2-4 & 6-8pm.  A funeral service will be held at the former St. Joachim’s parish (603 Loch Lomond Road) on Thursday, January 25, 2018 at 10am.    For those who wish, memorial donations may be made in Roy’s memory to the Cerebral Palsy Foundation of Saint John (www.cpfsj.ca) or to the charity of the donor’s choice and are greatly appreciated by his family.
