Robert "Bob" John McKeown

With his loving family at his side, Robert J. McKeown, husband of Ellen (Munn) McKeown, passed away peacefully on Sunday, November 19, 2017 at Bobby’s Hospice. Born in Drumkeeran, Northern Ireland on September 7, 1925 he was the son of the late William and Sarah (Houston) McKeown. In addition to his parents he was predeceased by his son Percy McKeown; grandchildren Joey, Christin, Alex and Scarlett; grandson-in-law Jody; brothers William and Edward; and sisters Sadie and Dorothy.

Bob worked for the Irving Pulp and Paper for 35 years, retiring in 1990. He was a family man and loved spending time with his family. He had a great sense of humour and enjoyed teasing his grandchildren and great grandchildren.

In addition to his wife of 67 years, Ellen, he is survived by his children Danny (Brenda), Wardie (Marion), Billy (Sherry), Frankie, Cidy (Crystal) and Patsy (Jamie); daughters-in-law Cathy McKeown and Lorna McKeown, brothers David (Nadine), James (Shirley) and Victor (Linda); many grandchildren and great grandchildren, and several nieces and nephews.

Resting at Fundy Funeral Home, 230 Westmorland Road, Saint John, (646-2424) with visitation on Wednesday from 2-4 and 6-8 pm. The funeral service will be held from Fundy Funeral Home Chapel on Thursday, November 23, 2017 at 11  am. Followed by a reception in the reception area. Interment will take place at Cedar Hill Extension Cemetery. Remembrances in memory of Bob may be made to Bobby’s Hospice or to the charity of the donor’s choice.
