Peter Allan Matchett

It is with great sadness the family announce the sudden passing of Peter Allan Matchett, which occurred on Sunday May 1, 2016 at the Saint John Regional Hospital. Born June 28, 1964 in Newcastle, NB he was the son of Winnifred (McKibbon) Matchett and the late Edward Matchett. In addition to his father he was predeceased by his sister Beth Gratton.

Peter owned and operated The Pool Guy. He was an avid Hockey Fan, especially the Montreal Canadians. Pete loved the outdoors and enjoyed camping, fishing and golfing. He will always be remembered for his quick sense of humour and his kind generosity to others.

He is survived by his children Deanna Matchett, Kelly Matchett and Jack Matchett; sisters Debbie Vickers (Keith) of Ottawa, Pam Matchett of Miramichi, Dr. Stephanie Matchett (Fred) of St. Stephen and Vicki Henderson (Kevin) of Miramichi; several aunts, uncles, cousins, nieces and nephews.

Resting at Fundy Funeral Home, 230 Westmorland Road, Saint John (646-2424) on Wednesday, May 4 from 6 to 8 p.m. He will then be resting at Bell’s Funeral Home, 651 King George Highway, Miramichi (506-622-3600) on Thursday, May 5 from 6 to 9 p.m. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated from St. Mary’s Roman Catholic Church, 360 Newcastle Boulevard, Miramichi on Friday, May 6, 2016 at 11 a.m.  Interment will follow in St. Mary’s Catholic Cemetery. Remembrances in memory of Peter may be made to the Canadian Diabetes Association, Heart and Stroke Foundation of New Brunswick, St. Mary’s Catholic Church Restoration Fund or to the charity of the donor’s choice.
