Neta "Hope" Brown

It is with great sadness the family announces the passing of Neta Hope (Walker) Brown which occurred on Tuesday, October 3, 2017 at the Saint John Regional Hospital. Born 1928, in Lower Millstream, NB, she was the daughter of the late Austin and Annie (Corbitt) Walker.  Hope worked as a Nurse in the chemotherapy unit at the Saint John Regional Hospital before retiring in 1994.  She was involved with the Jean Smith Women’s Missionary Society and was an active member and charter member of Forest Hills Baptist Church.  Hope lived her life from a loving and creative heart. All of us know how fortunate we are to have been recipients of her generous thoughts, caring deeds, joyful talents and especially open arms.

Hope is survived by her son, Paul Brown (Linda) of Fredericton; daughters Charis Brown-Tobias (Rick) of Toronto, ON and Beth Brown Kirk (Dan) of Rothesay; brother, John Walker (Vivian) of Fairvale, NB; sister Inez McMann of Sussex; grandchildren Nathan Gorham (Joanne), Jeremy Tobias (Jana), Josh Brown (Katherine), James Tobias (Alicia), Janna Brown, Taylor Brown, Hilary Brown; great grandchildren Izabella Brooks, Ethan and Ava Gorham,  Parker Milton, Elouan Brown-Courchesne; brother-in-law, Bill Brown (Shirley) as well as several nieces, nephews and friends.  Besides her parents, Hope was predeceased by her husband David Brown and sisters Jean Roberts and June Cameron.        

We wish to thank the staff at Shannex Quispamsis who thought of Hope as family; our special caregivers who gave beyond what we hoped; and the nursing staff at Saint John Regional Hospital who did everything they could to make Hope's journey from this space to the next as gentle as possible.

Arrangements are under the direction of the Fundy Funeral Home, 230 Westmorland Road (646-2424) with visitation being held on Thursday, October 5th from 4 to 8 p.m.  A Funeral Service will take place from Forest Hills Baptist Church on Friday, October 6th at 7 p.m.  Interment will be held at Fernhill Cemetery on Saturday, October 7th at 9 a.m.  Donations in memory of Hope may be made to the Forest Hills Baptist Church or a charity of the donor’s choice.  To send a message of condolence please visit www.fundyfuneralhome.com
