Dear Beth
I am Jean Gallant's daughter. My mom is just up the hall from your mom in Shannex. You and I used to talk quite often in the lobby or while in passing in the hallway. I would have my granddaughter Emily with me quite often.
I was so sorry to hear about your mom. I met Bob in the hall the day that she passed and he told me the sad news. I know that she had the fall and broke her hip but she seemed to be recovering so well. The last time I spoke with her, I told her how happy I was to see her out of the wheelchair. Your mom was always so pleasant to talk to, she reminds me of my mom who is a very positive person despite her dementia.
And I always enjoyed talking to you. When our parents are living in a place like Shannex, I think it is so important to connect with other family members, it is good for our souls!
Mom could not make it to the service but she recognized Hope from her picture. And I picked up the beautiful keepsake that you had printed. Wow!! Her grandchildren loved her so much, how wonderful is that!
You are in my thoughts, I hope I run into you sometime.
Jane

Dear Brown Family,
We are very sorry to hear of you Mum's passing- though we know her faith in Christ welcomed her into His home. You were in our prayers once we knew Paul and family were visiting her in Palliative Care- and we trust you own faith in Christ will comfort you as God's Word guides your hope and hearts. We remember all the quilts and toys she made Hilary and Taylor- she invested in her family. God bless you all.

Our most sympathies are are offered to you Janna, and your family. We know how much love, and gratitude you had for her. Your grandmother has embodied hope on earth, "Hope" is a beautiful name. Now, she has gone back to God, where she came from before she was born. However, she will watch over You; her little daughter, Elouan, Patrick and all those she loved. At every moment of the rest of your life, you will be able to feel her loving presence by closing your eyes and listening in your heart. Now her horizon is infinite. May your pain be appeased by the faith that death will never quench Life. Take care of yourself.
We all love you very much.

I will miss your Mom's smile at me when I would come in to Shannex to see my MIL. She would often be in the common room and would smile and wave . She even welcomed my grand dog when I brought her with me and I remembered how she was always afraid of dogs , Her smile always made me glad to see her . I know she did not remember my name but she would ask me if I was coming to work here now. Our lockers at the old General were side by side and I often would see her there . She was an inspiration to the next generation of Christian women following behind her of how to live a godly life . She will be missed

Message from Brian Steeves
October 3, 2017 7:36 PM

Paul, Charis and Beth (and your families),

Very sorry to learn of your Mom’s death earlier today (Tuesday). There are certainly many good Brown-Steeves memories, stretching back over the decades. Among my earliest recollections are my philatelic visits to your mother on Harmony in the 60s as a young teenager, during which we talked postage stamps and swapped duplicates. And our joint-family trip to Expo in ‘67 was memorable for many reasons, not the least being our camp-out in the back yard of a Longueuil residence (remember?).

Alas, it looks doubtful Gail and I will be able to make it to Saint John this week on either Thursday or Friday. May the following words, attributed (probably erroneously) to Charles Haddon Spurgeon, minister comfort:

God is too good
to be unkind and
He is too wise
to be mistaken. And
when we cannot
trace His hand, we
must trust
His heart.

Keeping you all in our prayers,

— Brian (for Gail and myself)
