Welcome to the memorial page for

Murray "Brud" Lewis Ewart

June 23, 1929 ~ January 11, 2018 (age 88) 88 Years Old

With sadness, but appreciation of a long life well lived, we announce the passing of Murray “Brud” Lewis Ewart on January 11, 2018 at Kingsway Care Center, surrounded by his loving family.  Murray was born in Saint John, NB on June 23, 1929 to the late Lewis and Sadie (Ogler) Ewart and was the loving husband of 63 years to his late wife G. Evelyn (Butler) Ewart who passed in March of 2017.

Brud worked for NBTel for many years as an Installer/Repairman until his retirement in 1980.  He was a member of IBEW 502, acting as President and Shop Steward, and he was a member of the Telephone Pioneers. He was a faithful member of Silver Falls United Church and loved his time as a member of the choir, as a member of the Board of Stewards and Board of Session, and volunteered often to be a greeter at the back of the church.  He was a wonderful and caring father; generous with his time and showed his love to his daughters every day.  He was also the kind of grandfather that every grandson deserves to have.  He went to many of his grandsons sports games, regardless of the sport, and he happily drove them to where they needed to go.  He would do anything for them – as long as they took their hat off at the table.  He passed along his love of fishing and hunting leaving  many lasting memories for his grandchildren to carry with them.  Murray was a kind and considerate man, who really lived his faith and showed generosity to everyone.  He was patient and maintained his dry sense of humor to the very end.  Murray fell in love with Evelyn and idolized her until her passing.  Theirs was a great love story, and they loved to travel and went on various cruises; to Hawaii multiple times and just generally liked to spend time together.  He was a very gentle soul and will be deeply missed by all who knew and loved him.

He is survived by his daughters, Beth (Murray) Cullen and Monica Thompson, four grandsons: David (Danielle) and Stephen Thompson and Christopher (Shelby) and Johnathan Cullen, and great grandsons Ryan Cullen and Henrick Thompson, as well as his brother-in-law and great friend, Verne Butler along with several nieces and nephews.

Along with his parents and his loving wife Evelyn, he was predeceased by his son-in-law Larry Thompson, brothers Wayne and Douglas, and sisters Peggy Morrison and Catherine in infancy.

Arrangements are entrusted to Fundy Funeral Home, 230 Westmorland Road (646-2424) where visitation will be held on Sunday from 1-4pm.   A funeral service will be held from Silver Falls United Church on Monday, January 15, 2018 at 12pm with interment to follow in Ocean View Memorial Gardens.  Charitable donations made to Silver Falls United Church, IWK Foundation, Heart & Stroke Foundation of New Brunswick, or to the charity of the donor’s choice would be appreciated by his family.
