Mary "Helen" Ellen Bonnell

It is with heavy hearts that we announce the peaceful passing of Mary “Helen” Ellen (Gallant) Bonnell, wife of the late Malcom Bonnell which occurred on May 4th, 2016 at Rocmaura Nursing Home. She was born in St. Louis, Prince Edward Island on August 12, 1928, daughter of the late James and Alice (Martin) Gallant.

Mary will be dearly missed by her 5 sons; Leo (Karen) of Maple Ridge B.C, Malcom (Elaine) of Saint John N.B, Michael (Carmen) of Calgary AB, Daniel (Susan) and Samuel (Jody) both of Saint John, 5 daughters; Alice (Valmond) McGraw of Saint John, Debbie (Peter) of Calgary AB, Christine Bonnell of Saint John, Belinda Bonnell (Bruce) of Dalhousie, N.B and Peggy Bonnell  (Todd) of Saint John.

She is also survived by her sister; Doreen McDonald of Saint John, numerous grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

In addition to her husband Malcom and parents, she is predeceased by brothers; George, Harold and Howard Gallant, sisters; Rosie Gogan, Rita Gallant, Doris Kenny and Irene Cripps.

Mary was most happy when she was spending time with those that she loved, whether it be her children, grandchildren, great grandchildren, friends and neighbors. An avid and talented cook, Mary especially loved to bake homemade bread for her family and friends. She enjoyed playing Bingo and games of cards.

Funeral Arrangements are entrusted to the Fundy Funeral Home, 230 Westmorland Road (646-2424). The family will receive family and friends on Sunday, May 8th 2016 from 2-4 and 6-8 p.m.  A Celebration of Mary’s life will be held from the Fundy Funeral Home Chapel on Monday, May 9th at 11:00 am. Interment will follow in St. Joseph’s Cemetery.

Memorial Donations in memory of Mary can be placed towards the Diabetic Association or a charity of your choice.
