Marven Neil Arbeau

March 18, 1934 ~ August 30, 2016 (age 82) 82 Years Old

Surrounded by his loving family, Marven Neil Arbeau of Grand Bay-Westfield, NB, husband of Marion (Curtis) Arbeau went to be with his Lord and Saviour on August 30, 2016 at the Saint John Regional Hospital after a very short battle with cancer.  Born at Upper Blackville of Northumberland County, NB on March 19, 1934, he was the son of the late Thomas and Lena Arbeau.  He was well known for his hugs, smiles, jokes and laughter.

In addition to his wife Marion of 55 years, he is survived by his daughters; Susan (Rev. Brian) Baxter of St. Catharines, ON, and Shelly (John) Woodland of Grand Bay-Westfield, NB as well as his five adored grandchildren; Christy, Kenneth and Elizabeth Baxter and Olivia and Ryan Woodland, sister Marguerite Munn, brothers; Perley (Maisie) and Lewis (Gail) and sisters-in-law Freda Arbeau, Lillian (Floyd) Weaver, brother-in-law Rev. Ronald Curtis and numerous nieces, nephews and friends.  Marven was predeceased by his brothers; Miller, Hubert (Doris), Phil (Sharon) and Alfred, sisters; Brenetta (Horace) Jewett, Doreen (Clarence) Gilmore, and Edna and his sister-in-law Miriam Curtis and brother-in-law Kail Munn.

Over the years, he served as a Deacon and Trustee at the Browns Flat Baptist Church.  Most recently Marven was a member of the Grand Bay Baptist Church where he served as an Usher and supply Sunday School Teacher.  He was a faithful member and always attended Adult Sunday School and any times of corporate prayer.  He was always willing to help when needed.   Through the years Marven worked at the Hamilton Cotton Mill in Marysville, Hillcrest Farms, and drove Transport for Paul Smith.  He also was owner/operator with Speedway Express and owned and operated his own dump truck.  He was a dispatcher at Speedway Express in Fredericton, NB.  From there he worked as a mechanic at RST.  While there he was forced to retire from a heart attack in November of 1989.

Marven enjoyed many things and enjoyed life to the fullest.  Some of these things included maple sugaring with his brother Lewis, camping, travelling, woodworking, and spending time with family and friends.  He especially enjoyed his coffee buddies.  He was a very compassionate man and was loved by many, many people.

Arrangements are entrusted to Fundy Funeral Home, 230 Westmorland Road (646-2424).  Visitation will be held at Grand Bay Baptist Church (77 Woolastook Drive) on Friday from 1-4 and 6-8pm.  A funeral service will take place from the church on Saturday, September 3, 2016 at 3pm with interment to follow in Browns Flat United Baptist Cemetery.  An additional graveside service will be held at a later date at Upper Blackville Baptist Cemetery.  In lieu of flowers, donations made in Marven’s name placed to Transport for Christ - Canada, Grand Bay Baptist Church, Upper Blackville Baptist Church, or to the charity of the donor’s choice would be appreciated by his family.
