Welcome to the memorial page for

Marilyn MacDonald

August 20, 1935 ~ July 19, 2016 (age 80) 80 Years Old

It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of our mother, Marilyn Jeanne (Burgess) MacDonald on July 19, 2016 at Embassy Hall.  She was born in Frye, ME on August 20, 1935 to the late William and Flora (Bushley) Burgess.

Marilyn worked as a lab technician at the Rumford Paper Mill in Maine for many years and after moving to Saint John, she worked at Atlantic Sugar, was the bookkeeper for MacDonald Applicators, worked for MacDonald Crane and was a homemaker all of her adult life caring for her 9 children.   She was very devoted to her family and loved nothing more than being surrounded by her children, grandchildren and great grandchildren.  She loved crossword puzzles and jigsaw puzzles, loved the written word, was creative and loved to knit and crochet, and had a great time travelling with Dickie looking at antique cars.  Marilyn had a great sense of humor and she liked to sing and whistle – you knew she was in a good mood when she was singing and shuffling her feet.  She was a very faithful person and will be dearly missed by all who had the pleasure of meeting her.

Marilyn is survived by her 6 sons; Bart (Jane), Kevin (Denise), Troy (Lori), Blake (Natalie), Andrew (Laurie), and Sean (Kelly), as well as 2 daughters; Elizabeth (John) Waters and Jana (Tom) Shelton, and daughter-in-law Michelle MacDonald, 24 grandchildren; Jennifer, Barclay, Angela, Richard, Kathleen, Christina, Jonathan, Samuel, Benjamin, Shane, Adam, Desiree, Mitchell, Devon, Paige, Mallory, Spencer, Jessica, Sarah, Emily, Brooke, Rebecca, Ethan and Taylor, 16 great grandchildren; Serenity, Wesley, Laney, Jessa, Dominick, Kayden, Hannah, Jackson, Emmett, Sebastian, Gabriel, Aiden, Jace, Evan, Connor and Maddyson, sister Marie Janitas, as well as several nieces nephews and cousins.

Along with her parents, she was predeceased by her loving husband of 45 years, Dick MacDonald, son Trevor, as well as brothers; Herbie, Richard, Ashley and William, and her sisters; Dorothy, Sally and Louise.

Arrangements are under the care and direction of Fundy Funeral Home, 230 Westmorland Road (646-2424) where visitation will be held on Friday from 2-4 and 6-8pm.  A funeral service will be held on Saturday, July 23, 2016 at 9am from the Fundy Funeral Home Chapel.  Donations in memory of Marilyn made to the IWK Foundation, the ALS Society of New Brunswick, Canadian Cancer Society or to the charity of the donor’s choice would be appreciated by the family.
