SMITH, Madeline “Madge”-
It is with great sadness the family announces the passing of Madeline "Madge" Smith at the SJRH Palliative Care surrounded by her loving family. She was reborn in to the Kingdom of God on June 22, 2011 her 89th birthday.
Madge died as she lived a fighter and mother, providing grace and comfort to her family, caregivers and loved ones, thinking and caring first for everyone else until the end. Madge will be sorrowfully missed by her family and all who knew her.
Born in Saint John June 22, 1922. Daughter of John and Annie (McDade) Given.
During WWII Madge worked at Munitions Factories in various provinces. In her early years she work in local restaurants including Palms, Admiral Beatty, White House Lodge and Randy`s. Active in many social clubs including McAllister Walking Club and McDonald`s (Walmart) coffee club where she went daily to meet with special friends.
Survived by daughters Lois Robichaud, Roxanne Fairweather (Pat), sons Daryl (Cathy) of Calgary AB, Kim, Joseph (Judy) of Ottawa ON, Anthony (Ann), Mark .
16 grandchildren and 26 great grandchildren, several nieces, nephews, and cousins. Caregiver and special friend Cindy Drisdelle.
Besides her parents Madge was predeceased by loving husband Joseph Harold Smith, brother Jack Given and sister Jean Anderson
Resting at Fundy Funeral Home, 230 Westmorland Road (646-2424) with visitation on Thursday and Friday June 23rd and 24th from 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated from the Cathedral of the Immaculate Conception, 91 Waterloo Street on Saturday June 25, 2011 at 10:00 a.m. Interment will follow in St. Joseph’s Cemetery.
