M. Jean Donkin Obituary

Marjorie Jean Donkin, 98, passed away on Friday, April 6, 2018, after a brief illness. Jean was born on September 25, 1919, in Upham, New Brunswick, and married Robert W. Donkin on July 29, 1942. She was the younger daughter of Stephen P. and Dora L. (King) Geldart. Her grandparents were William and Clara (Stewart) Geldart and Joseph E. and Emily Jane Godsue (Tracy) King.

Jean was a long-time resident of Westfield Road (Martinon) Saint John. She enjoyed gardening and was an avid reader. She was also fond of cats and spent many hours bird watching.

She is survived by her niece, Cathy Hillier (Robert Madracki) of Brechin, Ontario; great-nephew Dwayne Grimes of Pefferlaw, Ontario; great-niece Jeanette Baron (Brian) and great-grandniece Ella Baron of Whitby, Ontario.

In addition to her husband, parents, and grandparents, Jean is predeceased by her sister Ena Hillier (John).

The family wishes to thank Jan Seely and all the staff at the Seely Lodge for their superior care. They would also like to acknowledge Judy Latham for providing many years of friendship, care and support to Jean. As per Jean’s wishes there will be no visitation or funeral services.
