Lloyd "Allison" Smith

It is with heavy hearts the family of Lloyd James “Allison” Smith of Saint John, announces unexpected passing that occurred in Dinwiddie, VA on Friday, October 21, 2016. Born in 1950 in Tillsonburg, ON, he was the son of the late Lloyd and Marion (Ogden) Smith. Lloyd was employed with Brookville Transport for over 20 years as a long haul trucker, travelling across North America and communicating with his buddies in the Loyalist City Amateur Radio Club as a ham radio operator.  Everyone will miss hearing from “VE9AS”.  Lloyd was a kind, selfless man who was deeply devoted to his family. He cherished every moment spent with them especially his grandchildren. He was outgoing always sparking conversation with anyone he met.  Lloyd always made you feel like family.

He is survived by his loving wife of 31 years, Linda (Hovey) Smith; children Carl (Angela) Smith of Fredericton, Erica (Dale) King of Stoney Creek, ON, Ryan (Katie) Smith of Saint John, Emily Smith of Vancouver Island, BC and Adam (Lindsay) Smith of Saint John; grandchildren Dominique, Destiny, Rylie and Charlotte; brothers Gerald (Val) Smith of Morineville, AB and Albert Smith; sisters Mary Breedon of Orangeville, ON, Reta Brown of Edmonton, AB and Susan Black of Sussex; numerous nieces and nephews.

Upon Lloyd’s arrival home visitation will take place at the Fundy Funeral Home, 230 Westmorland Road on Saturday October 29, 2016 from 2-4 and 6-8 p.m. A service to celebrate Lloyd’s life will be held at Fundy Funeral Home Chapel on Sunday October 30, 2016 at 11a.m. Interment will take place at a later date. Remembrances may be made to the Saint John Boys and Girls Club.
