It is with great sadness the family announces the passing of Lloyd “Ribs” Mathew Reid which occurred at his home on Sunday, August 6th, 2017. Born 1944, in Saint John, he was the son of the late Richard and Irene (Cave) Reid. Lloyd was a Steel Worker at the Saint John Ship Building for 38 years before retiring in 1997. In his earlier years, Lloyd played ball with the Old Timer Softball “Legion” and he loved playing darts. He enjoyed playing cards and crib and was an avid hunter and fisherman.
Lloyd is survived by his loving and devoted wife Ann (Kelly) of 54 years; son Reggie (Tammy Vautour) of Saint John; brother William “Sarge” Reid (Bunny) of Saint John; step-brother Errol Hopey (Shirley) of Saint John; step-sister Deanna Bonvie of Halifax; grandchildren Justin and Jessica; great grandchildren Anthony, Madison, Bentley, Blake, and Cole; extended grandchildren Madeline and Jamie; as well as several nieces, nephews and friends.
Besides his parents, Lloyd was predeceased by his brother Robert, sister Barb Wright and step brother Donald Hopey.
Arrangements are under the direction of Fundy Funeral Home, 230 Westmorland Road (646-2424) with visitation being held on Wednesday, August 9th from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. A Memorial Service will take place from the Fundy Funeral Home chapel on Thursday, August 10th at 11 a.m. Following the service, a reception will be held at the Norton Legion (1935 Rte. 121, Norton, NB). Interment will take place at a later date. Donations in Lloyd’s memory may be made to Extra Mural, Canadian Cancer Society, Norton Legion Poppy Fund or to the charity of the donor’s choice.
