With sadness, but appreciation for a long life well lived, the family of Lillian Rose MacDonald, wife of the late Lloyd G. MacDonald, announce her passing on March 4, 2018 at her residence with loving family by her side. Born on May 30, 1922, Lillian was a daughter of the late James and Eulalie (Marchand) Montgomery.
Mom was a faithful and long-time member of Stella Maris Parish and past President of CWL. She worked at various jobs while maintaining a busy household. Mom was a loving and devoted wife, mother and grandmother. She was quick witted, tenacious and playful. No challenge was too great, and she excelled at everything she attempted. Until later years when dementia impacted her life, Mom was a creative seamstress, knitter and baker who won many awards at the ANE. She enjoyed travelling, playing cards and games, sometimes stretching the rules to win.
Mom will be dearly missed by her children Corinne O’Blenis (Bob) of BC, Carol O’Reilly of Saint John, Betty Childs (Art) of Rothesay, Bud MacDonald (Lynn) of AB, Jerry MacDonald (Wanda) of Saint John, and Chuck MacDonald (Linda) of AB. Survived also by 16 grandchildren, 30 great grandchildren, 2 great great grandchildren, brother Robert Montgomery (Alice) of NS and several nieces and nephews.
Beside her parents and husband Lloyd, Lillian was predeceased by her siblings Jane Duffy, Frances Richard, Dolly Desmarais, Margaret Malone, Alex, Roly and Jerry Montgomery.
We will forever be thankful for the love, kindness, and compassion shown to Mom by the staff at Kingsway Care Centre for the last three years. You’re awesome!
