Welcome to the memorial page for

Kenneth L. Mallory

July 14, 2016

With appreciation for a life well-lived, the family of Kenneth Lloyd Mallory announces his passing, which occurred on Thursday July 14, 2016 at Saint John, NB in the embrace of his loving wife Judy. Born in Saint John, NB on April 1, 1939, he was a son of the late Kenneth Albert Mallory and Pearl (Seymour) (Mallory) Gallant.

Ken retired in 1999 from a successful 30 year career with State Farm Insurance where he built his Saint John based General Insurance Agency from the ground up.  After his graduation from Simonds High in 1957, Ken went on to get an undergraduate degree at the School of Hard Knocks, a Master’s Degree at The University of Self Study and a PHD in Trial and Error.

Ken’s true passions and talents were let loose in retirement when he was set free in his workshop. During his 17 year retirement, Ken and Judy built a 44 foot power catamaran in their backyard and after living aboard in warmer  climates for a couple of years, settled into a comfortable routine of southern winters and summers spent sailing on the Kennebecasis River. Ken was compelled to create and build and spent his life turning his dreams into reality with one unbelievable project after another. His most recent large project being the successful construction of an ultra-light airplane which he immediately learned to fly and was quoted as saying “now I know what it really means to fly by the seat of your pants”.  He lived a life of passion and curiosity. Never afraid of the unknown. Build a guitar, learn to play it. Build a boat, learn to sail. Build an airplane, learn to fly. He had plans drawn up for a small submarine and has put that project on hold until the next time through.

Ken is survived by his wife Judith (Hopper)(Arsenault) of 24 years; son John Mallory (Kim) of Saint John and their children Alexandra and Caroline; daughter Sarah Mallory-Wright (John) of Quispamsis and their children Jacob, Madison, Peter and Widlynn; step-daughter Tanya Charters (Doug Anderson) of New Maryland and their children Paul, Corey and Kelsey ;step-sons Michael Arsenault (Susan) of Halifax and their children Ryan, Renee, and Tyler, Mark Arsenault of Saint John and his children Janna and Luke;  sister Bette Shannon (John) of Saint John ;sister-in-law Pat Mallory of Saint John; father in-law Rae Hopper of Salisbury;  great-granddaughter Jasmine Wright; as well as many nieces, nephews and friends. Besides his parents, Ken was predeceased by his brother Richard Mallory in 1995 and sister Barbara “Penny” Legere in 2016.
