On Saturday, March 11, 2017, Ken Fenwick, husband of the late Vera Jean (2013) of Quispamsis, NB, passed away peacefully at Bobby’s Hospice after a brief illness. He was born in Saint John, on October 23rd, 1925. Ken was the son of the late Talmadge Spicer Fenwick and the late Edna Pearl (Wasson) Fenwick.
He attended Saint John High School and the University of New Brunswick, where he graduated in 1947 with his BSc in Civil Engineering. Ken began his career at International Nickel in Sudbury, ON, and later returned home to work in the family business, T.S. Fenwick Ltd., of the Saint John City Market, for 33 years as owner/operator. Throughout the years Ken was an active member of the Kennebecasis Baptist Church, a member of the Saint John Rotary Club, Director of the Saint John Boys and Girls Club and a member of the Saint John Probus Club. He enjoyed sailing, hunting, fishing, tennis and had a great love for gardening. Ken was a loving and devoted husband, a caring father and grandfather and forever treasured for his guidance and support. Ken and Jean enjoyed many winters in Fort Myers, FL and summers at their cottage on Bellisle Bay, NB where they had many happy gatherings with family and friends.
Ken is survived by daughters Beverley Cole (Roger) of Rothesay, Carolyn Beazley (Michael) of Halifax, son Mark (Beth) of Quispamsis, brother George (Paula) of Nova Scotia, 12 cherished grandchildren; Erin, Stephen, Kenneth, David, Matthew, Kerri, Gina, Natalie, Natasha, Andrew, Christopher and Scott, 16 great-grandchildren and several nieces and nephews.
In addition to his parents and wife of 66 years, Ken was predeceased by son Talmadge (Marjorie) and daughter Sandra (Shane) Wilson; brother Donald and sisters Marion MacDonald and Barbara Zwicker.
Resting at Fundy Funeral Home, 230 Westmorland Road (506-646-2424) with visitations on Wednesday, March 15th from 2 to 4 pm and 6 to 8 pm. The funeral service will be held from the Fundy Funeral Home Chapel on Thursday, March 16th at 11 am with interment to follow at Fernhill Cemetery. The family would like to thank Bobby’s Hospice for their compassionate care. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Canadian Diabetes Association, Muscular Dystrophy Association, Cystic Fibrosis Canada and Bobby’s Hospice
