Karen Mary Humphrey

It is with deep sadness that Karen's family announce her passing at age 58 at the SJRH
after a difficult struggle with cancer.  Karen was a gentle soul with a
tough exterior who quietly left this life surrounded by the love of family
and friends.

Karen was born July 25, 1957 and lived most of her life in Saint John, with
some time spent in Alberta and Ontario.  She was a North End girl, the
daughter of Frank and Mary (Evans) Humphrey.  Following in her father's
footsteps she was a long time employee of Canada Post.

Karen loved her dogs and there were many in her life starting with the
family's old black cocker spaniel Blackie, ending with Oscar her beloved
companion who survives her.

Karen loved to travel and after her cancer diagnosis she had hoped to be
well enough and have time to travel to Italy, sadly this was not possible.
It was also her dream to someday retire to Costa Rica or maybe Mexico, this
is not to be.

Karen loved watching television and was passionate about her favourite shows
and their characters. She had marked the date of the return of Downton Abbey
and was excited to know how the story will end for the characters she loved.

Karen was predeceased by her parents and brother Stephen.  Along with her
dog Oscar, she is survived by her niece Dr. Laurel Humphrey of Saint John
and nephew Michael Humphrey of Toronto, and sister-in law Connie Price of Saint John
along with numerous cousins and many dear friends.

A memorial service celebrating Karen's life will take place at the Fundy Funeral Home, 230 Westmorland Road on September 2nd, 2015 at 2:00 p.m .

A reception and time for fellowship  will immediately follow the service at the funeral home.

In lieu of flower, donations to the SPCA, Romero House or charity of the
donor's choice would be appreciated by the family.
