Karen Elaine Hughes

With heavy hearts the family of Karen Elaine Hughes announces her unexpected passing that occurred on Tuesday February 13, 2018 at the Victoria General Hospital in Halifax, NS. Born 1963 in Saint John, she was the daughter of Reginald Hughes of Saint John and the late Carol (Lewis) Hughes. Karen grew up on the South end of Saint John and  was a loving and devoted daughter, sister, aunt and friend. With her caring nature she cared for many children over the years; most recently her special nephew Josh who was the apple of her eye. She enjoyed reading had a passion for animals; bird watching and  especially her feline fur babies. She was a huge sports fan and enjoyed playing baseball and watching Coronation Street. Along with her father Reginald she is survived and will be missed by her sister Pam Hughes; brothers Stephen (Lynda) Hughes and Leonard Hughes; nephews Josh, Cliff, Mark,  and Jonathan; nieces  Carrie and Kim;  special cousin Marissa; many aunts and uncles; extended family Heather, Marlene, Aaron and Betty. Besides her mother, she was predeceased by her nephew Richard Hughes.

Arrangements are under the direction of Fundy Funeral Home, 230 Westmorland Road.  Following cremation, visitation will be held on Friday February 23, 2018 from 2-4 and 6-8 p.m. A Celebration of Her Life will be held at Fundy Funeral Home Chapel on Saturday February 24, 2018 at 1 p.m. The family would appreciate donations to the charity of one’s choice. www.fundyfuneralhome.com
