Joan A. Cook

It is with great sadness the family announces the passing of Joan Ann Cook which occurred at the Saint John Regional Hospital on Saturday, August 27th, 2016.  Born 1940, in Saint John, she was the daughter of the late Robert and Beaulah (Mott) Spellman.  Joan was a well-known singer throughout New Brunswick.  She loved and had many horses.  She enjoyed watching old movies and spending time with her family, neighbors, and friends.    She was happy go lucky and a social butterfly. 

Joan will be dearly missed by her companion Les Denton; sons David Bond (Cora) of Saint John; Terry Morton of Saint John; brother Ronald Spellman (Lena) of Hampton; sisters Doris Whitenect of Saint John, Colleen Foster of Saint John; grandchildren Brian Thorne, Danielle Bond, David Bond Jr.; great-grandson Hunter Thorne; as well as several nieces, nephews and friends.  Besides her parents, Joan was predeceased by her brother Robert Spellman and sisters Georgie LeBlanc and Gloria Waddell.

Arrangements are under the direction of Fundy Funeral Home, 230 Westmorland Road (646-2424) with visitation being held on Tuesday, August 30th from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m.  A Memorial Service will take place from the Fundy Funeral Home chapel on Wednesday, August 31st at 1 p.m.  Interment will take place at a later date.  Donations in memory of Joan may be made to the Heart and Stroke Foundation of New Brunswick, The Diabetes Association or to the charity of the donor’s choice.
