It is with great sadness the family announces the passing of Jeanie Johnston which occurred at Ridgewood Veterans Wing on Saturday, July 15th, 2017. Born 1920, in Darnley, Scotland, she was the daughter of the late Hugh and Jane (Timpany) McGill. Jeanie was a Sergeant in the Airforce during World War II for 3 years and was recalled in 1951 serving 5 more years in the Airforce. In her earlier years, Jeanie enjoyed golfing, playing bridge and cards, sailing and travelling.
Jeanie is survived by her brother David McGill (Lenora “Lynn”) of Saint John; sister-in-law Frances McGill of Saint John; special friend Linda Dunn (Scott) of Ontario and their children John, Jacob and Ben; nieces Jan McGill (John Smith) of Quispamsis, Cathy Dignard (Paul) of Saint John, Hazel Gaudet (Steve) of Saint John, Helen Blyth of Scotland, Ruby Heron (John) of England; nephews William McGill (Denise) of Saint John, Lee McGill (Krista) of Saint John, Trevor McGill (Kim) of Saint John, Hughie McGill of Saint John, David McGill (Marlene) of Saskatoon, Robert McGill (Karen) of Ontario; as well as several grand nieces and nephews. Besides her parents, Jeanie was predeceased by her husband Patrick, sisters Helen Henderson and Mary Boyd and brothers William and Hugh McGill.
Arrangements are under the direction of Fundy Funeral Home, 230 Westmorland Road (646-2424). A Graveside Service will take place at Ocean View Memorial Gardens on Friday, July 21st at 11 a.m. Donations in Jeanie’s memory may be made to the Salvation Army or to the charity of the donor’s choice.
