Irma L. MacDonald

It is with great sadness that we announce the death of our dear mother Irma (Webb) MacDonald on Sunday, November. 13th. 2016. Last year, Irma was predeceased by her loving husband of 56 years Everett MacDonald. Born 1939 in Jerusalem, NB she was the daughter of the late Edward and Myrtle Annie (MaGee) Webb. Irma was the last surviving sibling, predeceased by 4 brothers Burpee, Edward, Doug and Malcom as well as a sister Grace (Harquail).

Irma is survived by her children Lloyd MacDonald (Elaine); daughters Lori Greer and Lynn Casey (Mike); grandchildren Alexis Truax (Shawn), Catherine Mudge and Norman Greer; great grandchildren Ethan, Oliver and Emelia Mudge and Charlotte “Charlie” Martin. She is also survived by several nieces, nephews, cousins and many close friends.

Irma worked as a school teacher most of her life and she beamed with pride every time a previous student would approach and tell her a story about how she made them laugh or feel special. Her true passion was music. Irma learned how to play the fiddle after Everett gave her one for her 56th birthday. She dove into the music scene and happily played both piano and fiddle at many a fiddle doo! Irma’s greatest pride was the production of her very own album, “Irma &Friends”.

Irma was a wonderful person and was loved by many because of her fun loving and amazing sense of humor. Irma was like a second mother to many of the neighbourhood kids. She has touched many lives and will be greatly missed by all who knew her, especially her 6th floor girls, card party, and fiddle friends.

Resting at the Fundy Funeral Home, 230 Westmorland Road, Saint John (646-2424) with visitations on Tuesday November.15th  from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8pm. The funeral service will be held from Fundy Funeral Home Chapel on Wednesday, November.16th, 2016 at 10 a.m. Interment will follow in Fernhill Cemetery, followed by a reception at the funeral home.
