Helen J. Willar

It is with great sadness the family announces the passing of Helen Josephine (Deering) Willar which occurred at the Saint John Regional Hospital on Sunday, October 1st, 2017.  Born 1924, in Saint John, she was the daughter of the late John and Josephine Deering.  Helen worked for the Telegraph Journal before retiring in 1989.  She loved to play Bingo and cards.

Helen is survived by her sons Wallace (Elizabeth) of Saint John, Richard (Valerie) of Saint John; daughters Diane (Carl),  Heather Rodd (Randy) of Toronto; sisters Patsy Clark (Gerald) of Rothesay, Kathleen Kelly (William) of Rothesay; grandchildren Jason, Kimberly, Douglas, Melanie, Chris, Melissa, Bobby, Tony, Stephen, Heather, Kammi, Karla; great-grandchildren Kirk, Kenny, Owen, Angelica, Alyssa, Marek, Kensey, Josh, Abbigale, Carly, Lauren, Dresden, Damon, Jordan, Carter; as well as several nieces, nephews and friends.  Besides her parents, Helen was predeceased by her husband Wallace J., daughter Donna Quartermain, brothers Douglas, John, Greg and sisters Phyllis, Irene and Mary.

Arrangements are under the direction of Fundy Funeral Home, 230 Westmorland Road (646-2424) with visitation being held on Wednesday, October 4th from 6 to 8 p.m.  A Mass of Christian Burial will take place from the Cathedral of Immaculate Conception on Thursday, October 5th at 12:10 p.m. followed by an interment at St. Joseph’s Cemetery.  Donations in memory of Helen may be made to the Canadian Cancer Society or to the charity of the donor’s choice.
