Hazel Doreen "Dodie" Hayward

Hazel Doreen Hayward passed away peacefully on April 28th, 2016, surrounded by her loving family at her residence at Shannex Embassy Hall. Born in Saint John, August 20, 1929 to the late Bert and Annie (Flemming) Hicks. She was raised by adoptive parents Evelyn and Kelly Jackson. Doreen married her husband Kenneth Hayward in 1948. She was a loving and devoted wife, mother, sister, aunt and friend. Dodie was a member of the United Church and The Ladies Aid. She is survived by her children Clifford Hayward (Alice) of Saint John, Glenda Hayward of BC, Sandra Hansen (Arne), Terri Hayward, Kenny Hayward (Debbie), Marie Hayward (Robin) and Reg Hayward (Rhonda) all of Saint John, Jean-Marc Hayward of ON and Vicki Hayward (Marty) of Saint John; sister Nancy Robarts (Jack) of NS and sister-in-law Nancy Hicks of Perth Andover; 25 grandchildren, several great-grandchildren; hundreds of special foster children over the years; several nieces, nephews, cousins and friends. Doreen was predeceased by her husband Kenneth A. Hayward; parents Evelyn and Kelly Jackson; sisters Kathleen Padgett, Nan Legere, Minnie Maher, Edith Hickey and Agnes McKee; brothers Bob Hicks, Steve Hicks, Herbert McLeod and Charles McLeod; two grandchildren and nieces and nephews.

Arrangements are under the direction of the Fundy Funeral Home, 230 Westmorland Road (646-2424). Visitation will be held from the Glen View United Church on Sunday May 1, 2016 from 6-9 p.m. A memorial service will be held from Glen View United Church on Monday, May 2, 2016 at 1:00 p.m. Interment to follow at Ocean View Memorial Gardens. Donations in Doreen’s memory can be made to the Canadian Cancer Society, Glen View United Church or to the charity of the donor’s choice.
