Gerald J. Goguen

It is with profound sadness the family announces the passing of Gerald “Gerry” James Goguen which occurred at the Saint John Regional Hospital on Monday, July 17th, 2017 with his loving family by his side.  Born 1947, in Saint John, he was the son of the late James and Josephine (Dibblee) Goguen.  Gerry worked for Irving Paper as a Heavy Equipment Operator for 38 years before retiring in 2002.  He was a member of the Canadian Paper Workers Union Local 601 as well as a member of Men of St. Marks Church.  Gerry loved spending time with Shirley and his Pine Cone family.  He enjoyed atving, Nascar and watching hockey.  Most of all, Gerry cherished time spent with his family and friends. 

Gerry is survived by his loving and devoted wife Shirley (LeBourque) of 45 years; son Greg Goguen (Sheila) of Saint John; daughter Lynn Goguen- Melanson (Rene) of Quispamsis; sister Patricia “Pat” Chipperfield (Les) of Summerside, PE; uncle Harold Dibblee of Fredericton; “Bubby” will be greatly missed by his 6 grandchildren Drew, Gabe, Jared, Marissa, Maddison, and Ella.  Besides his parents, Gerry was predeceased by his brother Frank Goguen.

Arrangements are under the direction of Fundy Funeral Home, 230 Westmorland Road (646-2424) with visitation being held on Wednesday, July 19th from 6 to 8 p.m. and Thursday, July 20th from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. A Mass of Christian Burial will take place from St. Mark’s Catholic Church (171 Pettingill Rd. Quispamsis, NB) on Friday, July 21st at 10 a.m. followed by an interment at Cedar Hill Ext. Cemetery. Donations in memory of Gerry may be made to CACI Community Autism Center Inc., SJRH Palliative Care Unit, Matthew Palmer Scholarship Fund, or to the charity of the donor’s choice.
