Gerald Douglas Chase

With saddened hearts, the family of Gerald Douglas Chase announces his passing, which occurred at the Saint John Regional Hospital on March 18, 2017. Gerald was born on March 28, 1935; a son of the late Vernon E. Chase and Jessie (Bishop) Chase, and loving husband of Nancy Chase.

In addition to his wife Nancy, Gerald will be missed by his sons V. Eugene  - Gene – (Kelly) Chase  and Gregory C. (Kathy) Chase, sister Elizabeth Murray-Chase (Carmen) of Moncton and his 2 grandchildren, Jazmin, and Emily. He is also survived by numerous nephews and nieces.

Besides his parents, Gerald was predeceased by his brother, Eugene (Kaye), Sharon Hebert  (Laurie) and beloved granddaughter, Ashton.

Resting at the Fundy Funeral Home, 230 Westmorland Road (646-2424). Visitation hours will be held on Monday, March 20th from 2-4 and 6-8 PM. A celebration of Life will be held on Tuesday, March 21st at 1:00 PM from the Fundy Funeral Home Chapel.

Gerald enjoyed the simple things in life.  His  first love was his family and he took particular pride in his grandchildren.  Nothing pleased him more than attending a hockey game with his sons and on Sat. Night you would find him being entertained by wrestling in his favourite chair. He started working at 11 years of age and for the last 40+ years  he drove taxi and was considered the “Oldest Cabbie in Saint John” which he was still doing up until 3 weeks before his death. He loved the cruise ship season and was proud to be an ambassador for Saint John.
