Frederick Soper

With great sorrow, his family announces the departure of Frederick Robert George Soper from this world to be with his Lord and Saviour Jesus Christ. His passing occurred on Saturday, July 16th, 2016 at the Saint John Regional Hospital.  Born in 1945, in Halifax, NS, he was the son of the late Frederick and Alice (Oxford) Soper.  Fred graduated from TUNS in 1969 as a Professional Electrical Engineer.  He worked in senior management for Maritime Tel & Tel in Halifax for 26 years.  Following his career at MT&T, he was employed by Bermuda Telephone and then became a Director Level Management Consultant for DMR Consulting in Saint John.  Fred loved working with his hands, building model planes, kitchen cabinets, decks, and furniture.  He enjoyed woodworking, tree grafting, painting, sewing and gardening. Fred was passionate about his family, he genuinely enjoyed people and showed his great love for God in his willingness to offer a helping hand.

Fred was a loving husband, father and grandfather. His family joyfully celebrates his entrance into the Kingdom, but his passing leaves a hole in their hearts and lives. He is survived by his devoted wife Wanda (Eastman) of 47 years; son Greg Soper (Suzanne) of Sackville, NB; daughter Jennifer Cummings (Brent) of Hampton; sisters Millicent Higginbotham of Charlottetown, PEI, Valda Gillis (Wayne) of Truro, NS, Deborah Laine (Jack) of Toronto, ON; grandchildren Hannah, Benjamin, Sarah, Samuel, Timothy, Heidi, and Clara; as well as several nieces, nephews and friends. 

Arrangements are under the direction of Fundy Funeral Home, 230 Westmorland Road (646-2424) with visitation being held on Tuesday, July 19th from 6 to 9 p.m.  A Memorial Service will be held from Atlantic Community Church, 78 Route 880, Apohaqui (433-8323), on Wednesday, July 20th at 3 p.m. Donations in memory of Fred may be made to the Heart and Stroke Foundation of New Brunswick, Atlantic Community Church, or to the charity of the donor’s choice.
