It is with great sadness the family announces the passing of Franklynn “Frankie” Olivia Edwards, age 7, of Kingston, NB, which occurred unexpectedly on Saturday, June 17, 2017 at the Saint John Regional Hospital due to complications associated with Muscular Dystrophy.
Frankie was born on June 5, 2010, in Saint John, NB, to parents Christopher and Tracy Edwards and older sister Georgina Edwards. Although Frankie’s life would seem too short to many, she had a magical way about her that touched all those she met. Frankie had many families in addition to her immediate and extended family – teachers and fellow students at MacDonald Consolidated School, the Sky Athletics Cheer family and her Muscular Dystrophy (MD) family including “Team Frankie”. While Frankie’s MD may have limited her physically, she overcame it with her spirit, intellect, sense of humour, inner strength and perseverance. She loved cheerleading and Minnie Mouse, and she was able to join sister Georgie and family on a recent trip to Disney World with her cheerleading family. Her dream was to one day visit Paris and the Eiffel Tower. Frankie loved to color and wanted to be an artist. She loved going to Reed’s Point Pub on Thursday evenings with Nanny and E Al. Frankie loved having her nails done, wearing bright lipsticks and dressing up.
Frankie is survived by her parents, Chris and Tracy; her sister, Georgie; her paternal grandparents, Bruce Edwards (Maureen Riley), Candy (Ashe) MacDonald (Alan); her maternal grandparents, Robert and Brenda (Corvec) Ellsworth; maternal great grandmother Beatrice Ellsworth; her aunts and uncles, Tim Edwards and Alisa Eaton, Trish Ellsworth and Richard Frenette, Troy and Faith Campbell, Tracy and Rob Landry, Joey Riley and Abby Riley, Derek and Melissa MacDonald; cousins Huxley Edwards, Sophie and Ellie Frenette; Lauren, Kieran and Kennadi Campbell, Kayla, Benjamin, Rachel and Jackson Landry; Grace and Sydni MacDonald; Andrew and Maggie MacDonald; many extended family members and loyal, loving friends. Frankie was predeceased by her uncle Tim MacDonald.
Thank you to the Kingston Peninsula Ambulance Service, Ferry Operators and Saint John Regional Hospital ER Department. Thank you also to Frankie’s entire medical team for helping to provide her the best quality of life.
Arrangements are under the direction of Fundy Funeral Home, 230 Westmorland Road (646-2424) with visitation being held on Wednesday, June 21st, from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. A Memorial Service will take place from the Fundy Funeral Home chapel on Thursday, June 22nd at 11 a.m. followed by an interment at Kingston Trinity Cemetery. Donations in memory of Frankie may be made to Muscular Dystrophy Canada.
